Scott when i finally dragged myself out of bed this afternoon, i expected only a day of household chores awaiting me. then i saw a new release by Alex Kozobolis and ended up taking a little vacation to Greece. this fruitful collaboration really brightened up a dreary, wintery day.. Favorite track: Maybe Momentarily.

about

Alkis Livathinos is a Greek composer and sound designer, Alex Kozobolis is an Anglo/Greek composer and photographer.

During a brief international travel window, shortly before the onset of the Omicron variant, Alex travelled to Patras, Greece to meet Alkis in his hometown.

Alongside the unfurling of a new friendship, a natural and rewarding collaboration also emerged-in which warm days, spent recording in Alkis’s home studio, made way for cooler nights, spent chatting and reflecting on the day’s work, outside in the alfresco bars of the upper city.

Composing and improvising across multiple instruments [voice, piano, synths, guitar, oud], field recordings and musings collected over Alex’s trip- including, amongst others, a drunk man singing in the Athens metro, jackals howling at night in the mountains of Mani and a micro-poem about elusive lizards - were weaved into the music.

‘Volta’, the 5-track debut EP from the duo, is a sonic collage of exploration through Greece, the piano and beyond
